German Olympic Partner

The institutions in the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe are the largest non-governmental sponsor of sports in Germany, providing around EUR 78 million in support each year. With the participation of the Deka Group and other companies in the Sparkasse Alliance, the German Sparkasse Bank Association (Deutsche Sparkassen- und Giroverband – DSGB) has been a German Olympic Partner of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund – DOSB) since January 2008.

In addition to the support provided as a German Olympic Partner and national sponsor of the National Paralympic Committee Germany, it also provides support for the German Sports Badge and Elite Sports School title awarded by the DOSB. In addition to top sporting events, the partnership therefore also covers amateur sports and support for young athletes. The Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe is the first DOSB partner to provide support in all three areas at the same time.

Golfing for a good cause

In the area of sports promotion, the Bank focuses on two measures: The promotion of the DOSB ("Olympia Partner Germany) and already since 2002 that of golf.

Deka has successively expanded its commitment to golf and has been the main sponsor of the Deutscher Golf Verband e. V. since 2015. (DGV). The cooperation focuses on the promotion of young people. As a partner of Jugend & Vision Gold, Deka supports the "Youth trains for the Olympics" project and sponsors the Junior Team Germany on its way into top-class sport. The aim of the intensive cooperation is to further increase the awareness of golf and to give young people more opportunities to practise the sport systematically.

Deka has also been the main sponsor of the golf competitions of the charity tournament series in favour of Deutsche Krebshilfe for years. Deka is providing the winning prizes for the entire tournament series of around 130 tournaments. The entire proceeds from donations from all the tournaments held will also go directly to the German Cancer Aid and its German Children's Cancer Aid Foundation. In the past season, around 280,000 euros in donations were raised.

For the 2018 season, Deka has expanded its sponsorship programme with the former best amateur golfer in Germany, Max Schmitt. With three victories and second place in the Order of Merit on the Pro Golf Tour, he made his breakthrough in 2017 and Schmitt secured his place as an amateur in the European Challenge Tour 2018.
